The VP of Global Marketing & Communications is responsible for shaping and developing a strong, consistent and differentiated brand identity and positive perception of our brand (internally, externally and within a range of audiences including influencers, customers, partners, resellers, press, analysts, investors and prospective employees). This important marketing leader will develop marketing and communication strategies and deliverables that increase brand awareness, brand enthusiasm and brand loyalty within target audiences.

This leader will manage the strategy and drive the execution of public relations, analyst relations, investor relations and internal and external communications. This includes managing social media as well as crisis communications. The VP of Global Communications will work closely with the head of product marketing and sales leadership to create thought leadership content, customer and partner success content, and fulfill the needs of analysts while supporting sales and business growth. This leader also will work closely with company spokespeople, training and coaching them to be effective brand ambassadors through their evangelism and engagement activities.

The VP of Global Communications reports to the Chief Marketing Officer and will work closely with the CMO to develop brand and marketing strategies and build out the team as the company grows. This leader will also work closely with People Ops to manage internal communications and drive employee engagement with our brand.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and drive a multi-channel communications strategy
  • Develop and manage all communications material
  • Develop the company brand voice and maintain brand integrity across all platforms
  • Manage PR, AR & IR and oversee agency support in the future
  • Develop relationships with media, influencers and community leaders
  • Lead a team of communication, PR, AR, IR, and social media professionals which could be compromised of a mix of contractors, agencies, and direct reports
  • Support and oversee creation of brand thought leadership content
  • Develop communication strategies for delivery of corporate culture and business strategy
  • Provide media and social media training to spokespersons and team members
  • Work closely with and coach Storj executive team in order to elevate their profiles in the market on behalf of Storj as thought-leaders and respected change-makers.
  • Develop and execute media strategies at major events
  • Present on behalf of Storj and DSA at events and conferences as needed
  • Work with / deliver communication leadership for our non-profit organizations (DSA and Storj Institute) on DEI and ESG to promote our brand values and leverage their relationship with Storj to propel visibility and growth for all involved
  • Create and lead the marketing and communications program for DSA in partnership with the DSA founding team, and execute with support of sustainability-focused agency. Vet, onboard and mange the agency.

Qualifications

  • Proven work experience as a Communications leader in the tech industry ideally with experience in B2B technology sold to IT.
  • Experience working in agency and corporate settings, and ability to share and deploy insight and best-practices on internal/external communications and PR/AR/IR
  • Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency with communications technologies
  • Understand principles and strategies for earned media
  • Proficiency with social media platforms and social media marketing
  • Ability to leverage AI tools to accelerate and support content creation
  • Impeccable copywriting and copy editing abilities
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing or a related discipline is preferred
  • Confidence and experience in public speaking, delivering presentations and facilitating panel presentations and leading/managing speaking opportunities solo or with a group.
  • Be self-motivated and work productively as part of a team as both a coach and a top player
  • Have a demonstrated track record of team-building and consensus-building in dynamic fast-moving environments
  • Be driven to become an increasingly valued and integral part of the leadership team working to shape the future of Storj as the organization continues to grow and evolve.
  • Have experience working with diverse communities, cultures and internationally distributed teams, and experience collaborating and refining brand messages to diverse global markets, ensuring consistency while resonating in markets around the world as Storj expands its presence globally.
  • Have experience delivering media and communications training to executive team members and subject matter experts in a range of highly technical arenasm and providing ongoing support, direction, coaching and feedback to develop a strong bench of spokespersons, authors, speakers and brand ambassadors.
  • Must be willing to travel up to 20% of the time
