The Role
We are currently looking for a Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) to support licensing for our product launches across jurisdictions, particularly in Europe and the Middle East. This will be a hybrid role predominantly and we strongly prefer candidates based in the Netherlands.
What you will do
Own the design, implementation, and ongoing refinement of policies and Anti-Money Laundering (AML), know-your-customer (KYC) onboarding and refresh cycles, sanctions screening, transaction monitoring, suspicious activity reporting (SAR/STR filing), customer due diligence (CDD/EDD), and recordkeeping obligations.
Keep up to speed on and report to the executive leadership team on regulatory changes and important legislation such as MiCA, EU AMLR, and various global-anti money laundering regimes.
Prepare clear and actionable compliance updates for executive leadership and Board of Directors. Provide strategic input on compliance performance, incident trends, and emerging risks in the payments, digital assets, and stablecoin ecosystems.
Work closely with Plasma’s Chief Compliance Officer, Head of Global Payments and General Counsel to scope, hire, and manage a small compliance team focused on day-to-day compliance operations, including onboarding, transaction monitoring, and reporting.
Act as the designated representative to regulatory authorities and law enforcement, ensuring open and compliant communication, timely responses to requests, and accurate submission of all requested reports.
Advise Plasma’s Chief Compliance Officer, Head of Global Payments and General Counsel on designing a global AML program and support licensing applications in other markets.
Who you are
Well experienced in payments companies and a strong understanding of payment systems.
Proven experience in MLRO roles. AML Compliance Officers are also welcome to apply.
Strong understanding of the unique challenges around wallets, stablecoins, and cross-border transactions. Also deeply familiar with the traditional payments stack (EMIs, processors, acquiring banks, card schemes, etc.).
Familiarity with MIDs, BINs, descriptors, chargeback flows, and network remediation.
Experience embedding merchant compliance into payment ops, onboarding, and underwriting systems.
