IT Systems Engineer

Pantera Capital is the first institutional investment firm focused exclusively on bitcoin, other digital currencies, and companies in the blockchain tech ecosystem. Pantera launched the first cryptocurrency fund in the United States in 2013. The firm subsequently launched the first exclusively-blockchain venture fund. In 2017, Pantera was the first firm to offer an early-stage token fund. Pantera manages $3.9bn across three strategies – passive, hedge, and venture – exclusively focused on bitcoin, other digital currencies, and companies in the blockchain tech ecosystem.

Pantera is hiring a/an IT Systems Engineer to be the on-the-ground technology partner for one of our offices, responsible for delivering white-glove executive support, managing the endpoint fleet, and enforcing device compliance across the organization. This role requires presence at least 3 days a week in our San Fransico office.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical support to executives, investment professionals, and staff -- with an emphasis on speed, discretion, and minimal disruption
  • Own office IT operations for your location: conference room A/V, network connectivity, printer management, physical security systems, and vendor coordination
  • Device lifecycle management: procurement, provisioning, imaging, deployment, refresh, and secure decommission
  • Manage MDM operations across Windows, macOS, and iOS -- enrolling devices, deploying configurations, and monitoring compliance
  • Weekly patch cycles and remediate vulnerabilities according to the firm's patch management policy
  • Enforce endpoint compliance baselines: encryption, OS currency, firewall, screen lock, and EDR agent health
  • Manage SLA adherence for all tickets in your queue and contribute to monthly compliance reporting
  • Support onboarding and offboarding of employees: account provisioning coordination, hardware setup, and Day 1 readiness
  • Participate in cross-training with peer IT Systems Engineers to ensure no single point of failure across offices
  • Escalate infrastructure, identity, and security issues to the Platform & Security Engineering team using the defined escalation checklist

Qualifications:

Required:

  • 2+ years of experience in an IT support, systems administration, or endpoint engineering role
  • Hands-on experience with MDM platforms (e.g., Intune, Jamf, Addigy, Mosyle, Kandji) for endpoint enrollment, configuration, and compliance
  • Strong working knowledge of macOS and Windows endpoint troubleshooting
  • Experience with Azure AD / Entra ID (user management, group policies, Conditional Access basics)
  • Familiarity with patch management processes and endpoint compliance frameworks
  • Ability to support users with professionalism, patience, and a sense of urgency
  • Excellent communication skills -- you can explain technical issues clearly to non-technical stakeholders
  • Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision while staying aligned with team priorities

Preferred:

  • Experience in financial services, fintech, or crypto/blockchain companies
  • Familiarity with NinjaOne or similar RMM platforms
  • Experience with Jira Service Management or similar ticketing systems
  • Exposure to SOC2 compliance requirements and evidence collection
  • Basic scripting ability (PowerShell, Bash, or Python) for task automation
