Orca is seeking a DevOps Engineer focused on building and maintaining robust backend infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be committed to enhancing and managing our existing Terraform and AWS stack, ensuring seamless integration with our telemetry solutions (Datadog), and enabling actionable insights for the engineering team.

What You’ll Do

Enhance Cloud Infrastructure: Maintain and expand Orca's AWS infrastructure using Terraform, ensuring scalability, reliability, and ease of management.
Optimize Observability & Monitoring: Integrate and manage telemetry solutions like Datadog, refining alerts and metrics to be clear, actionable, and directly support engineering productivity.
Modernize Service Management: Transition existing multi-process services into Terraform-managed infrastructure, improving maintainability and automation.
Improve Global Performance: Expand Orca's backend services across multiple geographical regions to enhance latency and reliability for users worldwide.
Streamline Deployment Pipelines: Collaborate with development teams to optimize deployment workflows, ensuring smooth transitions from local environments to staging and production.

What You’ll Bring

Proven Experience: A strong track record of working on high-performance, scalable systems with expertise in release engineering, infrastructure, and operations.
AWS Proficiency: Extensive experience with AWS services (e.g., ECS, copilot, Cloudwatch) and the ability to troubleshoot and optimize cloud-based systems.
CI/CD Expertise: Hands-on experience with tools like GitHub Action for reliable and efficient deployment workflows.
Observability Knowledge: Familiarity with tools like Datadog to build actionable monitoring and alerting systems.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform, and containerization tools like Docker. Experience with orchestrators like Kubernetes or Airflow is a plus.
Balanced Mindset: Comfortable working independently in an async environment while collaborating effectively with a team. You understand trade-offs and advocate for pragmatic solutions.
Understanding of DeFi: Familiarity with Decentralized Finance (DeFi) concepts, AMMs, and the Solana ecosystem is a plus but not required.

What We Offer

Salary: 175,000 - 220,000 USDC (Range for US Employees)
Token Allocation: 50,000 - 100,000 ORCA over 4 years (Range for US Employees)

Our hiring process

Orca is transparent and efficient. We move fast, and this process will be short and intense. We believe our process enables us to make decisions quickly so we avoid long, drawn out interview rounds that last weeks.

Initial Screen (50-60 min)

This is an opportunity for us to better understand your experience and knowledge of Solana and DeFi, and an opportunity for you to learn more about the role and company (20-30 min). In the same session, we might ask you to advance directly to a coding exercise so we can evaluate your technical proficiency (30 min).

COO Round (60min)

An interview with Isaac, our COO. This is a chance for you to learn about Orca's history, present status, and its bright future. Isaac will also assess your knowledge of AMMs and DeFi.

Technical Interviews (60 min each)

This round will consist of 3 open-ended coding interviews back-to-back all conducted the same day. It will be with Yutaro (Founder/CTO), Phil (Sr Engineer), and a Backend Engineer our team.
