Our European operations are expanding rapidly under MiFID II and MiCA frameworks, and we’re looking for a seasoned COO to spearhead our regulated MiFID entity’s operations and trading business.
About the Role
As the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Head of Trading of our MiFID-regulated European business, you will be responsible for driving operational excellence, business strategy, and regulatory compliance. You will also lead the trading function, developing and managing a portfolio of crypto-oriented MiFID-compliant financial products for both retail and institutional customers.
You’ll work cross-functionally with global teams, collaborate with regulators, ensure robust risk and compliance frameworks, and deliver key KPIs including revenue growth, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
What You’ll Be Doing
Executive Operations & Strategy
- Oversee day-to-day business operations of the MiFID-licensed entity, aligning with the long-term vision of OKX in Europe.
- Initiate and oversee operational initiatives including new system implementations, product rollouts, and process optimization.
- Drive and monitor operational KPIs, focusing on growth, customer satisfaction, risk, cost-efficiency, and compliance.
- Serve as a key strategic partner to OKX global and regional leadership in Europe.
Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management
- Embed MiFID II and other applicable regulatory standards into operational processes (1st line of defense).
- Maintain operational risk registers and lead incident management and documentation.
- Own internal governance processes, ensuring transparency and accountability.
- Maintain open and proactive communication with regulators, ensuring compliance with MFSA regulations and guidelines.
Trading Strategy & Product Management
- Lead the trading business for the MiFID entity, including product design, pricing, margin, risk, and revenue models.
- Work with compliance and group product teams to ensure all products meet MiFID licensing conditions.
Partnerships, Banking & Vendor Management
- Manage and optimize vendor relationships (outsourcing, tech providers, custody, etc.).
- Collaborate with legal/compliance for outsourcing due diligence and SLA oversight.
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Partner with product, engineering, compliance, marketing, and customer ops teams locally and globally.
- Support regulatory engagements across EEA.
What We Look for in You
- Bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in financial services or fintech, with executive-level product, trading, and/or operational experience in a MIFID regulated environment.
- Deep understanding of MiFID II and the crypto/blockchain ecosystem.
- Proven experience with trading businesses, product development, risk management, and regulatory engagement.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Fluent in English, with excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Comfortable in fast-paced, high-growth environments; entrepreneurial mindset.

- Experience with derivatives, structured products, and margin trading.
- Exposure to blockchain, DeFi, Web3, and crypto-native trading products.
- Track record of launching and scaling financial products in fintech or crypto.
