Gala is creating entertainment that empowers on the blockchain. Across our family of brands, including Games, Music, Film, Blockchain and VOX, we're empowering creators and fans to build the future of entertainment.

Powered by talent from around the globe, we believe in making bold moves to create products that have never been seen in the marketplace. Gala was founded by Eric Schiermeyer (gaming legend and co-founder of Zynga) and ever since Gala has grown to be a leader in Web3 entertainment.

Under the Gala brand, we have a growing roster of reputable partners across Gaming and Entertainment, including DreamWorks, AMC, and NBCU. Plus, legendary game developers Peter Molyneux and Will Wright and music greats like Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, Kings of Leon, and BT.

Our values are based on openness and ownership and the ability to deliver games, experiences, and opportunities to people worldwide. We are breaking down barriers to bring our communities joy, entertainment, and real-world value.

At Gala, we work with flexibility; we have a great time with our colleagues and love getting things done. While working here, you'll imagine and create new and exciting things for the world to enjoy. Your talents and efforts will improve our audiences' lives in the real world.

And this is just the beginning…

About The Role

Join our DEX team to design, build, and scale the services that power decentralized trading—order books, matching, market data, settlement flows, and on-chain integrations. You’ll own critical paths from API to ledger, balance low-latency engineering with safety and compliance, and help set technical standards used across wallet, core chain, and exchange.

What You’ll Do

  • Architect and build DEX services (matching/order routing, RFQ/AMM integration, market data, settlement pipelines) with a focus on throughput, determinism, and fault isolation.
  • Design APIs (REST/WebSocket) and data models that are explicit, versioned, and easy to integrate.
  • Integrate on-chain logic with our blockchain: trigger transactions, consume events, and coordinate settlement/finality with retries and idempotency.
  • Performance & reliability: profile hotspots, tune concurrency, apply backpressure, and set SLOs; lead game days and incident reviews.
  • Security & compliance by design: implement authN/Z, rate limiting, ledger-grade audit trails, tamper-evident logs, PII minimization, and least-privilege patterns.
  • Observability: define golden signals, metrics, tracing, and error budgets; automate runbooks.
  • Testing discipline: property-based tests, deterministic simulators, chaos/load testing, and canary/blue-green deploys.
  • Leverage AI for code suggestions, perf analysis, and incident triage, with mandatory human validation and production change controls to ensure accuracy and safety.
  • Collaboration: partner with wallet, smart-contract, and blockchain teams; mentor engineers; write clear RFCs and design docs.

What You’ll Bring

  • 5+ years professional software engineering, including 3+ years building high-throughput backend/distributed systems (trading, payments, real-time APIs, or similar).
  • Deep skill in at least one of: TypeScript/Node.js, Go, or Rust; comfortable working across languages when needed.
  • Strong database fundamentals (PostgreSQL or equivalent), in-memory systems (Redis), and event streaming (Kafka/NATS/Redis Streams).
  • Experience with containerized cloud deployments (Docker/Kubernetes/Terraform) and CI/CD.
  • Proven track record shipping systems with low latency, high availability, and strong correctness guarantees.
  • Security hygiene (secrets management, key rotation, secure coding) and familiarity with audit and regulatory considerations (logging, access controls, change management).
  • Clear communication, pragmatic judgment, and a bias for measurable outcomes.

Nice to Have

  • DEX/CEX domain experience (order books, market microstructure, AMMs, liquidity management, fee/discount schedules).
  • Blockchain experience (Hyperledger Fabric or other permissioned chains; chaincode or smart contract integration; event-driven settlement flows).
  • Production experience with WebSockets, gRPC, and idempotent transactional patterns.
  • Prior work on risk engines (pre-trade checks, limits), surveillance hooks, or compliance controls (e.g., sanctions screening integrations).
  • Observability stacks (DataDog) and SRE practices.
  • Fintech or security certifications are a plus.

Work Style & Time Zones

  • Remote-first; meaningful overlap with US business hours expected, restrictions on some countries
  • Participation in light on-call rotation with strong automation/runbooks.
