The Role & Impact
You’ll focus on scaling FalconX’s Derivatives product. This means designing and operating systems that support a global trading platform at scale. You’ll work with Product, our OTC Desk, and Trade Operations to shape middle- and back-office systems that are resilient, auditable, and built for speed.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and evolve derivatives systems, infrastructure, and processes.
- Architect scalable and performant services for high-throughput institutional trading.
- Partner with product, platform, frontend, and data teams to deliver end-to-end solutions.
- Debug, optimize, and harden transactional systems under load.
- Write clean, well-tested, and maintainable code.
- Break down complex work for junior engineers, review designs, and provide technical mentorship.
- Continuously identify technical debt and implement improvements with long-term maintainability in mind.
Requirements
- 5+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 2 years in Python or Go.
- Hands-on experience with AWS, MySQL, Redis, Kafka/SQS, and Kubernetes, with an understanding of trade-offs across technologies.
- Strong grasp of systems fundamentals: concurrency, multithreading, and multiprocessing.
- Experience building and operating high-scale, high-availability systems.
- Clear written and verbal communication around technical design and trade-offs.
- Comfort working in a fast, iterative development environment.
Bonus Points
- Knowledge of derivatives products: options, exotic options, futures, perpetual swaps, structured products.
- Strong CS fundamentals (Bachelor’s or equivalent in Computer Science).
- Exposure to frontend technologies (React, JavaScript/TypeScript).
Prior experience at an early-stage product startup.

The base pay for this role is expected to be between $XX-XX USD for a [Manager] level and $XX-XX for a [Senior Manager] level in the New York City and San Francisco Bay Area. This expected base pay range is based on information at the time this post was generated. This role will also be eligible for other forms of compensation such as a performance linked bonus, equity, and a competitive benefits package. Actual compensation for a successful candidate will be determined based on a number of factors such as location, skillset, experience, qualifications and the level at which the candidate is hired.
