The Defi Education Fund (DEF) is seeking candidates to serve as a Communications Associate. A successful candidate will have the opportunity to take on a larger role within the team.

The Communications Associate will report to the Communications Manager and support both the Communications Manager and the Policy Director in a variety of capacities. They will work on both longer-term communications assignments as well as on special situations.

This professional will:

• Be responsible for monitoring media and social media channels, flagging important updates to the Communications Manager and Policy Director.
• Conduct ad-hoc research on topics designated by the DEF team.
• Assist in developing communication materials such as press releases, stakeholder letters, media backgrounders, Q&As, etc.
• Help pitch media on topics core to the DEF mission.
• Support engagement with the DeFi/Web3 community and develop new methods to connect with the community.
• Serve as key support to both the Communications Manager and Policy Director.

Qualifications: The ideal candidate must be a strategic thinker with excellent writing and analytical skills, along with the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic record and at least 18 months of post-university work experience. Knowledge of, or strong interest in, cryptocurrencies, decentralized finance, political affairs and financial and corporate communication is preferred.

• A sense of urgency and creative persistence along with a willingness to go the extra mile.
• Technological proficiency and well versed in Microsoft Office, PowerPoint and Google Workspace.
• Strong digital and social media skills
• Ability to effectively communicate with individuals across the organization.
