We are looking to recruit an Europe, Middle East, and Africa (“EMEA”) Tax Lead (Tax Director) located in Malta to help Crypto.com to manage its rapidly growing business across the EMEA region. This role offers the successful candidate a fantastic opportunity to manage the EMEA tax affairs of a business with significant potential in a very dynamic industry.
Reporting to the SVP – Global Head of Tax, the incumbent will be responsible for managing and reviewing the tax compliance (direct and indirect i.e. VAT) and tax reporting in Malta, Ireland, UK, Europe, Middle East and Africa. The incumbent will be expected to contribute individually in Malta, however, support will be provided by the tax team at head-office.
The successful candidate will be a key member of the Crypto.com tax team in the EMEA region and will collaborate with global tax teams, external advisors and broader finance and operations teams across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the timely and accurate preparation of tax returns for all Crypto.com’s EMEA entities (local country and EU reporting e.g. DAC6)
- Manage, review, or prepare the annual corporate income tax reporting under IFRS including calculation of current and deferred tax positions
- Lead and manage any enquiries or tax audits with EMEA tax authorities through partnering with other team members across the organisation to bring them to an effective close
- Manage the risk exposure relating to all indirect tax matters (VAT) and report to the SVP – Global Head of Tax as necessary
- Participate in the transfer pricing documentation review and implementation
- Ensure policies, procedures and controls are up to date and drive process efficiency improvements across EMEA region
Requirements
- CPA or chartered tax advisor
- Ideally 7+ years of EMEA tax reporting and compliance
- Strong understanding of IFRS principles and experience in preparing tax provision calculations
- Knowledge of crypto related tax subjects is a plus
- Solid experience in Maltese, Irish, UK, and EU Tax and other jurisdictions in Middle East and Africa is highly advantageous
- Excellent project management, presentation and interpersonal skills
- Detail oriented, analytical, with an ability to multitask in a high growth environment
- Strong willingness to roll up their sleeves to get the job done
