At Coinbase, our mission is to increase economic freedom around the world, and we couldn’t do this without hiring the best people. We’re a group of hard-working overachievers who are deeply focused on building the future of finance and Web3 for our users across the globe, whether they’re trading, storing, staking or using crypto. Know those people who always lead the group project? That’s us.

There are a few things we look for across all hires we make at Coinbase, regardless of role or team. First, we look for candidates who will thrive in a culture like ours, where we default to trust, embrace feedback, and disrupt ourselves. Second, we expect all employees to commit to our mission-focused approach to our work. Finally, we seek people who are excited to learn about and live crypto, because those are the folks who enjoy the intense moments in our sprint and recharge work culture. We’re a remote-first company looking to hire the absolute best talent all over the world.

Ready to #LiveCrypto? Who you are:

  • You’ve got positive energy. You’re optimistic about the future and determined to get there.
  • You’re never tired of learning. You want to be a pro in bleeding edge tech like DeFi, NFTs, DAOs, and Web 3.0.
  • You appreciate direct communication. You’re both an active communicator and an eager listener - because let’s face it, you can’t have one without the other. You’re cool with candid feedback and see every setback as an opportunity to grow.
  • You can pivot on the fly. Crypto is constantly evolving, so our priorities do, too. What you worked on last month may not be what you work on today, and that excites you. You’re not looking for a boring job.
  • You have a “can do” attitude. Our teams create high-quality work on quick timelines. Owning a problem doesn’t scare you, but rather empowers you to take 100% responsibility for achieving our mission.
  • You want to be part of a winning team. We’re stronger together, and you’re a person who embraces being pushed out of your comfort zone.

Team Description:

The Blockchain Platform team at Coinbase is responsible for operating the infrastructure that powers all crypto verbs supported by Coinbase products - send, receive, stake, bridge, and more. We operate blockchain nodes, indexers, wallets, and a host of other systems that enable Coinbase users to interact with the broader crypto ecosystem.

Over the past couple years we’ve led Coinbase into the broader crypto economy beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum through the integration of L1s, L2s, multichain assets, and verbs beyond send and receive. We’ve accelerated Coinbase’s ability to integrate with network protocols and tokens, unlocking the 250+ assets that are now supported across Coinbase’s Retail, Institutional, and on-chain products. But we’re not done! The crypto industry moves at breakneck pace, and our teams must continue to demonstrate world class innovation and execution to ensure the entirety of the crypto economy is available for our users in a fast, cheap, and secure way.

We are looking for an engineering manager to lead one of the most critical foundations of Coinbase’s crypto infrastructure - our custodial Wallets. This includes Nova, Wallace, and Macbeth, which together power transactions across 50+ blockchain networks and every crypto token that moves on/off Coinbase platforms. These wallets form the interface between crypto networks and all products at Coinbase which need to send & receive crypto transactions, including Retail, Exchange, Prime, Custody, and Intx. You will be the owner for this domain, helping us to lead the team and its technical and business strategy, as we aim to build a best in class, scalable, reliable, and secure wallet infrastructure for the company. If you are excited about the mission of unlocking crypto for the masses, embrace big ideas and innovation, and are relentless in tackling hard problems, reach out!

What you’ll be doing:

  • Lead the new consolidate wallets team, encompassing Nova, Macbeth, Wallace, Amsterdam, Keychain, and Asset Recovery
  • Help develop short and long term business strategy and goals. Set the technical roadmap and lead the day to day execution towards achieving them.
  • Be on the front line when necessary, supporting the teams in operational activities and incidents, ensuring we maintain the highest level of service, reliability and security for our customers.
  • Deeply understand the state of the crypto industry - technology trends, blockchain protocols, etc - using that knowledge to push strategic prioritization and innovation
  • Continually raise the engineering bar across the org through mentorship and organizational leadership
  • Be a key leader and POC for our partners and senior leaders across the company.

What we look for in you:

Crypto forward, blockchain knowledge, influence within large organizations, high level stakeholder management, developing long term technical strategy, strong technical judgment/architecture/design

Nice to haves:

Crypto forward, blockchain knowledge
