Manager, EngineeringEngineering Organization & Culture
At Bullish, we are engineering the institutional standard for the digital asset industry. Our mission is to build a platform centered on security and compliance, requiring a commitment to technical excellence that extends beyond delivering code. As a global organization, we set a high bar for those driven to do their best work
alongside experienced, deeply specialized peers.
Engineers here treat development as a craft and own the outcome from concept to deployment. Our teams bring structure to ambiguity and shape the frameworks that support a global organization. We refuse to compromise on quality and seek
problem solvers who thrive on complex technical challenges with real market
consequences.
The Team: Post-trade Brokerage Engineering
The Post-Trade Brokerage Engineering team develops the foundational systems that manage the transaction lifecycle after execution. As stewards of the firm's Book of Record, we ensure every trade is accurately recorded, reconciled, and transformed into financial intelligence. Our engineers tackle large-scale data challenges to build transparent, audit-ready infrastructure for global compliance and KYT standards. By solving complex distributed systems challenges with a modern, cloud-native stack, we deliver the rigor required for highly regulated jurisdictions and provide total data integrity from execution to final statement.
What You’ll Do
Design and build high-availability Java/Micronaut services across our post-trade and analytics platforms, with Python and BigQuery for data workloads
Deliver the statements, confirmations, and reconciliations that institutional clients rely on as their source of truth
Meet ongoing regulatory reporting commitments and extend coverage as the firm enters new jurisdictions
Own production systems end-to-end with clear SLOs, automated CI/CD, monitoring, and incident response
Apply trade-lifecycle expertise to design event schemas and data models where reconciliation, idempotency, and auditability are first-class concerns
Partner with Trading Engineering, Compliance, Risk, and Finance across global teams to translate regulatory and business requirements into production systems
Raise the bar through code reviews, TDD, and mentorship
What You’ll Bring
5+ years building production systems in financial services or another high-stakes, regulated environment
Strong fundamentals across backend and data technologies, with the judgment to pick the right tool for the job (Java, Python, or otherwise)
Strong PostgreSQL skills, comfort with analytical stores (BigQuery or equivalent), and a track record of designing clean schemas and data models
Proven delivery of fault-tolerant systems with rigorous testing, observability, and HA/DR practices
A test-driven, agile working style, with the initiative to see what’s broken or missing and own the fix end to end rather than waiting for an assignment
Ability to use Large Language Models (e.g., Claude, Gemini) to accelerate delivery without compromising engineering standards
Ability to convey complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders across global teams
Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience)
Nice to Haves
Cloud and DevOps fluency (e.g., GCP, Kubernetes, Docker)
Hands-on experience with event-driven architectures and middleware such as Kafka and Aeron
Familiarity with big-data ecosystems (e.g., BigQuery, Snowflake, Databricks) and workflow orchestration (e.g., Airflow, DBT)
Familiarity with front-end technologies (e.g., React, TypeScript)
