The Department:
Brevan Howard Nova Fund is a long/short fundamental digital asset fund under Brevan Howard Digital. Our team has worked together for a number of years and excellence in engineering and data is a critical part of our success.
As Quant Developer for Nova, you would be leading research and implementation of our execution systems. This includes building and maintaining infrastructure related to execution, improving existing algorithms, diagnosing execution challenges and designing new algorithms. Top candidates will have a deep understanding of market impact and execution particularly in low-liquidity environments. Our systems trade 24 hours a day and candidates should be flexible to working in a fast-paced environment with unexpected needs.
You'll be joining a small team with the drive and spirit of a start-up moving quickly to tackle engineering challenges. Our team is highly technical and engages in deep discussions on new ideas with a focus on evidence-backed reasoning and modular design. You should be comfortable with highly autonomous work environments and seeking to have ownership of the backend technology and infrastructure. The team is globally distributed across Abu Dhabi, Geneva, Singapore and Hong Kong and is open to hiring candidates across a variety of regions with Brevan offices - New York, London, Geneva, Singapore, Abu Dhabi, Hong Kong.
MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE:
Essential Responsibilities:
- Primary owner for 24/7 execution system and execution algorithms
- Design and implement new algorithms, diagnose performance issues, and evaluate execution performance
- Build and maintain infrastructure related to execution, alongside existing engineers focused on backend development
- Enhance and expand existing monitoring and alerting
- Work collaboratively with traders and other engineers on new ideas
WORK EXPERIENCE/BACKGROUND:
Essential
- 4 -7 years of experience building and designing low to mid frequency execution systems
- Full stack experience and ownership mindset
- Able to diagnose and improve algorithm performance in-flight
- Highly organized and detail oriented
Desirable
- Experience with crypto markets
TECHNICAL/BUSINESS SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:
Essential
- Advanced knowledge of Python, SQL, Kubernetes, Redis, etc.
- Deep understanding of market impact and key metrics for trade execution
- Experience designing and implementing execution algorithms
- Experience working with exchange APIs and market data connections
- Writes clean, production-quality code with modular design on the first attempt
Desirable
- Experience with Google Cloud
