Role Overview

Blockchain Association is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Government Relations Operations Coordinator to support the day-to-day execution of the Government Relations team’s activities in Washington, DC.

This is an entry-level operations role for someone who is interested in government affairs, public policy, and the digital asset industry, with a primary focus on logistics, scheduling, tracking, preparation, and administrative execution. The Coordinator will help ensure that the Government Relations team is well-prepared, organized, and able to execute high-quality meetings, fly-ins, Hill briefings, member visits, and other advocacy-related activities.

The ideal candidate is proactive, responsive, professional, and comfortable managing multiple moving pieces in a fast-paced environment. This role is best suited for someone who wants to build a strong foundation in government relations by learning how advocacy operations are planned, organized, and executed.

Role and Responsibilities

As a Government Relations Operations Coordinator, you will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the planning and execution of Government Relations events, including Capitol Hill lunch briefings, member fly-ins, policymaker meetings, agency meetings, roundtables, and other BA-sponsored DC activities.

  • Handling logistics for GR events, including room reservations, catering, attendance tracking, materials preparation, calendar holds, room setup, vendor coordination, and post-event follow-up.

  • Coordinating with the Government Relations, Policy, Industry Affairs, Communications, and Operations teams to ensure meetings and events are organized, staffed, and executed effectively.

  • Assisting with scheduling for the Government Relations team, including internal meetings, external stakeholder meetings, member meetings, and Capitol Hill meetings.

  • Preparing and maintaining briefing materials, attendance lists, meeting schedules, biographies, background documents, and other operational materials for GR activities.

  • Tracking congressional hearings, agency meetings, relevant public events, and other policy-related activities that may be relevant to the Government Relations team.

  • Assisting with maintaining GR contact lists, stakeholder databases, Hill office tracking documents, and internal file management systems.

  • Helping organize and document internal GR processes, including standard operating procedures for briefings, fly-ins, member visits, and recurring team workflows.

  • Supporting member-facing GR activities by helping coordinate invitations, RSVPs, materials, schedules, logistics, and follow-up communications.

  • Assisting with administrative and operational support for BA’s political and advocacy-related activities, including PAC-related research, records, and file management, as directed.

  • Supporting office-wide and cross-functional projects as needed, particularly where GR logistics, scheduling, or event execution are involved.

  • Providing general administrative support to the Government Relations team to help ensure the department operates efficiently and professionally.

Qualifications

To qualify, you must:

  • Have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.

  • Have strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.

  • Be proficient with word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and calendar management tools.

  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Be comfortable managing logistics, schedules, lists, documents, and deadlines across multiple projects at once.

  • Be a self-starter who can take direction, anticipate needs, and follow through without close supervision.

  • Be professional, responsive, and comfortable interacting with colleagues, member companies, vendors, congressional offices, agency staff, and external stakeholders.

  • Have an interest in government affairs, public policy, financial services, technology, or the digital asset industry.

  • Be a team player who thrives in a fast-paced, high-performing, and collaborative environment.

  • Exercise discretion and sound judgment when handling sensitive information, internal planning documents, and external stakeholder communications.

The strongest candidates may also have:

  • Internship or entry-level experience on Capitol Hill, at a trade association, in a government affairs office, on a campaign, at a public affairs firm, or in a policy-focused organization.

  • Familiarity with the legislative or regulatory process.

  • Experience helping plan events, briefings, meetings, conferences, or other logistics-heavy projects.

  • Interest in blockchain, crypto, financial technology, or innovation policy.

Our Ideal Candidate is early in their career and has already demonstrated that they are highly organized, detail-oriented, reliable, and eager to learn. This person does not need to be a policy expert or an experienced lobbyist. The core mandate is operational excellence: keeping the Government Relations team organized, prepared, and able to execute effectively. The right candidate will be comfortable working behind the scenes to ensure meetings run smoothly, materials are ready, schedules are accurate, stakeholders are tracked, and events are executed at a high standard.
