The Association represents some 100 member organizations reflecting the wide range of the dynamic blockchain industry, including software developers, infrastructure providers, exchanges, custodians, investors, and others supporting the public blockchain ecosystem.

Role and Responsibilities

We are hiring a full-time Communications Associate, reporting to the Director of Strategic Communications, to support BA’s policy advocacy and public affairs efforts by developing strategies and managing tactics, including BA rapid response capabilities, stakeholder influence, media engagement, and leveraging of partnerships to benefit BA member priorities and the broader crypto industry.

As a Communications Associate, you will:

  • Support the Communications Department’s rapid response capabilities including providing strategic input, developing messaging, managing social media accounts, engaging key media, Policy and Government Relations Departments to develop and execute strategies and tactics supporting policy advocacy, including programs and campaigns, stakeholder engagement, and grass-roots efforts.
  • Develop and execute traditional and digital media strategies and tactics that drive earned media opportunities and public engagement; cultivate and maintain media relationships to advance awareness of BA’s public policy issues; act as policy media contact.
  • Lead cross-departmental teams and manage multi-faceted public policy projects, national and international, and campaigns supporting various BA policy priority issues.
  • Other duties as required by business needs.

The Communications Associate will work from our Washington, D.C., office, with remote work as appropriate.

Qualifications

To qualify, you must have:

  • A bachelor’s or advanced degree in marketing, communications, journalism, political science, political management or related field strongly preferred or commensurate experience
  • 3-5 years experience working in communications or public relations with a focus on public affairs and policy-related programs and campaigns
  • Strong understanding of communications and policy strategies and tactics
  • Experience developing communications strategy and executing on campaigns
  • Documented experience writing public-facing content, including blog posts, reports, etc.
  • Proficiency in various online applications and public engagement tools
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Motivated self-starter with strong critical thinking, resourcefulness, and problem-solving abilities.
  • An ability to work collaboratively with other members of the team

We also prefer if you have:

  • Experience working on Capitol Hill, with members’ congressional staff, or within the legislative/regulatory space
  • Experience budgeting for and running ad campaigns
  • A demonstrated interest in and understanding of crypto and blockchain technology, and passion for advancing the industry’s policy interests

Our Ideal Candidate is early in their career but has already demonstrated that they have strong research, writing, and editing skills and the ability to convey complex ideas to a variety of audiences. They should be able to manage multiple projects efficiently and simultaneously while meeting deadlines. They will be based in Washington DC and will have proven experience with communication strategy, content creation, social media management, internal and member communications, and media relationships.

Compensation Information

  • Base Salary Range: USD $65,000-75,000 annually
