The Role

We’re looking for a sharp, high-judgment Chief of Staff to support a General Partner. This is a unique opportunity to operate as a strategic right hand—driving internal alignment, helping shape external and internal narratives, and unlocking leverage across a portfolio of investments, content, and community efforts. You’ll work closely with internal and external stakeholders across venture, media, founders, and policy.

  • Drive initiatives forward by taking ideas and proactively translating them into actionable plans and next steps, while ensuring alignment across investing, content, and community functions
  • Be responsible for translating complex ideas into compelling decks, narratives, and decision frameworks
  • Coordinate with internal teams—including investment, editorial, talent, and events—to ensure seamless execution on shared priorities
  • Operate as an extension of the GP: taking meetings, managing inputs, and tracking workflows with discretion and context
  • Lead special projects from inception through delivery, often across unstructured or fast-evolving initiatives
  • Build high-leverage systems to manage time, communication, and execution around the GP’s top priorities
  • Work closely with founders, portfolio companies, and strategic partners to increase surface area and unlock value
  • Combine strategic judgment with operational rigor in a fast-moving, high-context environment
  • Proactively manage information flow, meeting cadence, and team decision-making to keep everyone moving forward
  • Thrive in an ambiguous role where success depends on trust, precision, and initiative

Minimum Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in consulting, product, VC, founder/ops roles, or similar fast-paced environments
  • Exceptional communication skills — can write and present at the level of top-tier investors and founders
  • Extremely organized and proactive, with the ability to manage complex projects and multiple stakeholders
  • Strategic thinker who can also execute tactically
  • Experience making decks and driving decision-making with minimal oversight
  • Trustworthy with sensitive information and comfortable representing a senior executive

The anticipated salary range for this role is between $335,000.00 - $391,000.00, actual starting pay may vary based on a range of factors which can include experience, skills, and scope.

This role is eligible to participate in the a16z carry program and various discretionary bonus programs as well as benefit and perquisite plans including health, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, 401K plan, vacation, and sick leave.
