The Role

This person will work closely with the Crypto communications team to support announcements, build and maintain our marketing networks and support the category-leading founders and companies in our portfolio.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated communications professional to gain valuable experience and drive meaningful change in a rapidly-evolving technological sector at a top venture capital firm.

To join our team, you should be excited to:

  • Support the crypto communications team in day-to-day operations and logistics for planning, media relations, partner/agency relationships, and more.
  • Ensure the crypto communications team stays aligned, informed, and on track for our announcements and cross-functional projects. Collaborate with our events and editorial/content teams on broader marketing initiatives.
  • Maintain our directory of marketing and communications agencies and other resources to provide recommendations and guidance to 60+ protocols, companies and projects in the a16z Crypto portfolio.
  • Create and update resources such as industry research, press and influencer lists, and messaging documents to facilitate effective outbound communications.
  • Learn new skills and adapt quickly to stay ahead of the quickly-changing trends and needs for founders and startups in the web3 space.

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of experience in public relations/external communications for technology companies. Experience in-house, at a venture capital firm, and/or in web3/crypto is preferred but not required.
  • Reliable, with demonstrated attention to detail, thoroughness, and accuracy.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working with high-profile executives in a highly cross-functional and collaborative environment.
  • Self-starter who’s always looking for better ways of doing things, and not afraid to speak up when you see broken or ineffective processes. Knows how to anticipate needs and adjust.
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguous and rapidly-changing situations
  • Intellectual curiosity and a natural passion for breakthrough technologies, startups and founders, and the promise and opportunities in crypto/web3

The anticipated salary range for this role is between $264,000-$308,000, actual starting pay may vary based on a range of factors which can include experience, skills, and scope.

This role is eligible to participate in the a16z carry program and various discretionary bonus programs as well as benefit and perquisite plans including health, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, 401K plan, vacation, and sick leave.
